Tampa Bay: Too much for my White Sox!

Tampa Bay 6, White Sox 2. The Rays win the ALDS 3 games to 1. Tampa Bay just played too much "small ball," manufactured runs, hit for power when needed, stole bases, and played "smart" baseball. The Sox, on the other hand, are all about power and very little else. One dimensional. They're also getting old and they are too slow to keep up with teams like TB.'s wait until next year.

Congratulations to the Rays. You're a helluva good team. Good luck in the ALCS against the "SAWX." I'll be rooting for you. And, to my beloved White Sox: thanks for a good year. Get better next year. Your fans deserve nothing less.

On to Chicago!

Well, now that my beloved Chicago White Sox have laid an egg in Tampa (St. Petersburg), coming off like "weak sisters of St. Cecelia", it's back to hitter-friendly US Cellular Field ("The Cell") in Chicago to lick our wounds.  Let's hope that we can regroup and play like the White Sox are capable of playing.

In Tampa,  they couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. Call it "dome-a-phobia."   It was horrible to watch them squander opportunities after opportunities with runners in scoring position.  Like yesterday's game. Bases loaded, no outs, the "big guns" at the plate, and what do we get: 2--count'em--measly runs!!!  That's pitiful.

Oh well, it's time to turn the page. Let's get two at home and send the series back to Tampa for a Game 5.  We can only hope.  Go SOX!!

On to Tampa Bay!!

Let's Go White Sox!! All is forgiven. You made us sweat, you made us angry, but ultimately you pulled it out and now we're American League Central Champions for 2008. White Sox 1, Twins 0. Yesssssss!!!!

Let's hear it for the old guys: Jim Thome, Ken Griffey, Jr., Jermaine Dye, Paul Konerko. Let's hear it for the brash guys: A.J. Pierzynski, Orlando Cabrera. And, let's hear it for the young guys: Alexei Ramirez, Brian Anderson, Dewayne Wise. I love you all.

On to Tampa Bay! Let's show'em that we're "in it to win it!" Yesssss!!

Chicago (both sides of town): You Rock!

Showdown in Minnesota!

This is for all the marbles. The White Sox visit the Twins in Minneapolis for what is essentially the AL Central Division crown. (Okay, I know technically the White Sox could get swept and still be in it with 3 final games against the Cleveland Indians.  But still...)

It's time to see what this team is made of. No excuses.  None. Nada. Zippo.  Just do it. A sweep would be nice but winning two out of 3 wouldn't be bad either.  No time for slipups or "woulda, coulda, shoulda" hindsight.  Your 21/2 games up on the Twins with 7 games to play.  You want the AL Central, White Sox?  Go up there and take it.  That is all.

The Roller Coaster Ride Continues

Well, here we go again. Looked like world beaters yesterday (9-4 win) against the Royals. Today, look like a bunch of helpless rookies. Doesn't look good tonight (Saturday, 9/20/08) against the Kansas City Royals. No runs, barely any hits, and double-plays (against us) galore! Orlando Cabrera said it best: something's missing with this team." Amen to that. No consistency from one game (or series) to the next. Thank God the Twins are stinking up the joint as well. But, will all these missed opportunities by the Sox eventually jump up and bite us in the butt? Only time will tell.
